I was fascinated to see how much I continued to see from the windows of my flat as the lockdown continued. The series of drawings which emerged began to reveal how much could be experienced from within a single space. When drawing this image, I especially enjoyed the unexpected juxtapositions between interior and exterior objects. I also spent a lot of time looking closely at Early Netherlandish imagery (Robert Campin and Van Eyck in particular), which helped me to see fragments more clearly and to play with their interrelationships.
