“Perched within my fifth-floor studio, I loved the exhilaration of drawing the successive areas of habitation and activity as I drew ‘Studio Panorama – Gull’s Journey’. The gull in the foreground [see panel 2 below] glided right in front of my eyes, whilst I was focussed on drawing the horizon. Momentarily diverted from the distant space, I rapidly drew the gull. Then, returning to the horizon, I continued drawing, at a slower pace. But now imagining the vista from the gull’s point of view, the landscape unfolding as it flew, revealing the relationship between zones of activity which are hidden from one another at ground level.”
