Alexandra Blum, ‘Chute’, graphite on paper, 42 x 59.4 cm, 2019

The foreground chute, mooring structure in the middle of the river and buildings on the far side of the river bank, form the pivot from which the wider space in this drawing expands. 

Transparent linear forms describe the structure I was standing on in the foreground.  It’s transparency within the drawing seemed appropriate for my feeling of vulnerability as the tide rose towards me.
